My future husband and I went to the same junior high and high school. We knew who each other was but that was about it. My husband’s sister had been in my mom’s English class in high school. They must have been talking about girls at home because she showed him my picture in the yearbook and told him he should ask me out.

Not long after that conversation he and I were asked to be servers together at the junior/senior prom. I got tired of waiting for him to call me about it and so I called him and asked him to be a server with me. When I called him up to ask him out, he told me he was going to call me to ask me to the same event.

The prom was still a month away, so he asked me to go watch the high school play with him – it was “Paint Your Wagon” that year. We had a wonderful time and continued dating through the rest of high school.

When we graduated, we separated to go to different colleges. But after one semester I transferred to the college he attended, and I loved it there. It felt like we started up right where we left off. We laughed, walked, talked, and studied together. We got married in our junior year of college and have enjoyed each other’s company ever since. We’ve been married for forty-eight years.
